I think we really lucked out when we found an AirBnB in this location! It is quite central to lots of interesting things, so we really can walk almost anywhere, but it is still relatively quiet with lots of families.
Five minutes to the west is the Kings Gardens, a huge green grassy park with multiple cafes, a playground, a secluded rose garden, flower gardens, fruit trees, a "folly garden", and lots of benches to sit on.

Especially with our recent good weather, it is astounding to see so many people hanging out there in all day long. Lots of birthday picnics on the grass, with little Danish flags stuck in a circle around a blanket. Lots of families chasing each other happily around. Circles of students clearly having a class. Lots of people with few clothes on trying to get their last tanning session in before it gets colder. And obviously lots of dog walkers. We are saving some of the interesting museums for when weather gets worse, but one of the places we will be certain to visit is Rosenborg Castle in these gardens, where the Crown Jewels are displayed.

Around the corner from us and across from the gardens is an art museum, Davids Samling, in a house where C.L. David lived and collected amazing art, mostly Islamic art, and then left the house as a free museum. It has one of the largest collections of Islamic art in the world so it is an amazing place to have so close by. Recently I put the laundry in the machine and then went to explore the museum before heading back to hang it out to dry.
To the east of us, about 7 minutes walk (which we know since it is our closest metro stop), is Frederiks Church, also known as Marble Church (Marmorkirken) and Amelianborg Palace where the King and his wife live, along with the former Queen. (Queen Margarethe was a beloved queen who reigned for 52 years before stepping down this past January, and many Danes seem to forget that Prince Frederik is really now King Frederik!). Amalienborg Palace is actually made up of four identical buildings facing into a central square. His Majesty Frederik X, Her Majesty Queen Mary, and their four children live in one, Queen Margrethe (the King's mother) live in another, other royal family live in a third, and the fourth is a guest house.

To the south is the central area where ribbons of walking streets are filled with people, shops, restaurants, churches. One reason each day feels like an adventure is that we keep getting lost in these streets and then having aha moments as we realize where streets connect up and where we are.
